Sofia has been working with children, adolescents, adults and families for 22 years. She has experience with a range of difficulties, including anxiety disorders, depression, behavior problems, school refusal, grief and trauma, and personality difficulties. Sofia also has specific training and experience in working with Autism Spectrum Conditions and developmental differences, including conducting assessments and therapy, using the ADI-R, ADOS-2 and modified CBT for individuals with these needs.
Sofia uses a variety of evidence based interventions to help children, adolescents and their families, aiming to find the best way of working with others to help in understanding themselves better, manage difficulties and find ways of improving their lives. She provides individual, parent and couples therapy and works with schools to support young people.
With young people, Sofia utilizes a team approach, identifying difficulties, problem solving and developing new and adaptive coping strategies, thoughts and behaviours. Using a combination of CBT strategies, DBT principles, mindfulness, interpersonal therapy and systemic reflection, Sofia assists clients to identify stumbling blocks and become empowered to make changes in their life and relationships, enabling them to move forward with their development and self-growth.
